MGC was founded in 1996 by Christopher Cowie, an American, who also designed the golf course. Currently at 14 holes, the course lies alongside the Arno river surrounded by hillsides, including those of Chianti Montalbano.
The Club provides considerable practice areas including putting and chipping greens and a large driving range. There are the usual amenities such as a Pro Shop, Restaurant, Locker rooms - and electric carts, trolleys and rental clubs. The lay-out of the course is considered user-friendly but at the same time provides a stiff sporting test where pars have to be earned.
Two holes are flanked by a water hazard consisting of the Arno river itself while two others require the golfer to navigate around a large lake.
The course is open all year, every day of the week. ( Closed on the 25th of December, Easter, and August 25th. )
Visitors are always welcome.
